A photography service that captures your pet's personality and the special relationship you share

What to Expect on a Pet Stories Photoshoot

Like any photography service that you pay for, it can sometimes feel a little daunting as you part with a big chunk of money. To save you from going in blind, I wanted to outline exactly what to expect when you choose a Pet Stories Photography package. From the planning stages, the schedule of the day, to the post-production process - let me run you through each step of your Pet Stories experience.

The Pre-Shoot Process

From the minute I receive your shoot enquiry, I am already thinking about location, style and the overall aesthetic of your pet's photography shoot. What makes Pet Stories Photography different, is that I make sure to fully understand the lifestyle you share, so that I can plan a shoot which is truly individual to you and your little sidekick.

So firstly, you will receive a pre-shoot questionnaire. This gives me a head start on getting to know your pet. Questions cover their personality and temperament, right down to the type of treats they like. There might be a certain behaviour trait, or something that makes your animal unique and special to you that you want me to capture. So it's a great opportunity to get special requests or 'things to look out for', out on the table. Now that I have all of the necessary information, we can schedule your shoot and by this time, I'm itching to meet your little bestie ....

What Happens on a Pet Photography Shoot?

Whether it's at home, on your favourite walk or even in the coffee shop that you both visit together, a Pet Stories shoot typically lasts around 45 minutes to an hour. If you decide to have multiple locations, it can last up to 2 hours. For the first 10-15 minutes of the session, I spend that time just getting to know your pet. We have a play, maybe a cuddle, and this allows them to feel settled around me. Then I basically just follow their lead, taking pictures of them playing, running, sleeping, being a nuisance - whatever they want. No posed shots at all. I can guarantee that your dog will have the most fun, for them it's just one long play and they're basically in charge.

When Will I Receive the Images of My Pet?

After the shoot, I focus on edits and it usually takes around 3-5 days for me to get digital images over to you. If you decided to go for a package with prints included, it takes a little longer and I can get everything posted within 2-3 weeks. The editing process is a big part of a photographer's job. As well as the price of a professional camera kit and service, you're also paying for professional post-production, which is achieved through an editing suite with a costly subscription, not to mention the time it takes to complete the editing.

Most Pet Stories Photography packages include prints, but for any special requirements, like photo-books, canvases or postcards, I have a separate price list available so that your favourite pictures can be printed and displayed in your own special way.

Hopefully this post has provided a little insight into the pet photography service you will receive and I look forward to hearing from you!
